What an interesting and educational week the Two Rocks unit had in April! We assisted with the Bindoon Land Search for a few days at the beginning of the week.
On Good Friday, 19th of April the Two Rocks State Emergency service were on callout for storm damage throughout the North West coastal area. We received 4 callouts all to private dwellings in the Alkimos area. These were all through loose roof tiles, loose tin sheeting, or broken eaves.
Our first call out was at 4am and we didn’t finish until roughly 9pm.
On the last house, we worked with our friends over at SES Wanneroo Joondalup and we all worked together in securing a double story house that had completely lost its roof in Alkimos. It was a challenging job with safety of utmost priority.
Practising knots, hauling sandbags, using power tools at height and working in confined conditions are very different in real life!
We learnt a lot and were faced with stressful conditions in extreme weather conditions and very little light. But all houses were safely and successfully made water tight.
On Saturday 20th April we were at the Bunnings Warehouse in Wangara cooking up a treat for their Sausage sizzle!
